동물모델로 연구하기 어려운 인간의 만성 염증과 자가면역질환을 연구하고자 한다. 분명한 목표를 가진 환자 코호트에 기반하여 최신의 오믹스 연구기법을 통해 염증의 악화와 호전, 그리고 치료에 대한 면역학적 규명이 연구실의 목표이다.
